Centuries ago, on a distant planet, there lived a family. The father was a renowned warrior, and he and his wife had two small children. Invaders had landed on this planet with the intention of taking it over. Frequently, the father was called away to advise their leaders in Councils of War. One night, shortly after he left, the mother heard a large group of men coming. She knew they weren’t friendly, so she quickly hid the children. Then the enemy soldiers burst into the cabin and killed her. They stepped over her body and began to ransack the home. It wouldn’t be long before they found the children.

The soldiers heard a noise behind them, and they turned to see the mother get up. One soldier stabbed her with his sword, but she kept coming. No matter how many times the soldiers killed her, the woman did not stop until every single one of them had died. Then she waited in that cabin until dawn, when her husband returned home.

A bayonet had gone straight through her right eye and out the back of her skull. There were deep stab wounds through her heart and left lung. Her jugular had been cut twice, and a full third of the bones in her body had been broken.

Despite all this, the husband swore that when he entered the cabin, she was standing among the bodies. Her left eye was full of red fire, but she focused on him and seemed to recognize him. When she realized that her babies were finally safe, the fire went out, and she died.
