I keep altering this poem, and I'm not sure if I'm completely happy with it yet, but I thought I'd put it up and see what people think! Let me know your thoughts, if you don't mind. Thanks.

Gravestones and Spider silk

I pause outside the walls

Uncertain

Tentatively stepping forwards

I immerse myself in the world of stones

The air of constant stillness envelops me

In the noise of silence

And the sadness of the loss overwhelming

Running

my fingers along the weather-smoothed stone

And reading the messages written with love

upon the hearts of the deceased.

They touch mine.

Between two stones, glimmering with fragility

A tightrope stretched from grief to remembrance

A brave explorer

Swaying perilously on a whisper-thin lifeline

Builds hope from despair

And I know:

Even though they can be broken so easily

We still build our dreams on shards of light...
