This Precious Moment
With your kind eyes and bright smile
You proved to me that having a huge heart
Is the thing that truly matters in life
You taught me your trials of being a Christian soldier
Showed the hardships that truly exist
When trying to love your enemies
Walking the line between your two lives
You never let your darker side show
Military and companionship separated by a thin line
And the times where the line swerved
And the two colors mixed
Cold steel grinding against a welcome embrace
Ambitious ecstasy of youth always clawed its way back out
Yet when the sadness that floods your eyes bleeds through
When you look upon your one year old daughter
And have to think that you may never see her again
Even my childish awareness can feel the regretful frustrating sadness
You taught me to cherish everyone I care for
In that moment
At that moment
Because it could be your last
Dedicated to Brian deployed to Iraq as of August 2005
