Sandbox Story

-To my Valkyrie-

We met a winter's evening bright

When your face was filled with light.

Not a care you had back then

Except those spoken through your pen.

Every day, we played entwined

Together we joked and dined

Until that day, when all around

My whole world came crashing down.

You told me that you're moving away,

And that you can no longer stay.

I cannot follow where you go

For my time has yet to show.

I tried to help, but did not

And sadly you were never caught.

All these emotions that this brings

As God comes down to give you wings.

You've broken my favorite toy

And left me with the pieces.

This poem has been written very recently and touches a deep place in my heart. A friend of mine revealed certain of her thoughts and some of the actions she wanted to go through with. I was so afraid for her and I kept thinking about what would happen if she were to go away. Since we're both so young, I decided to put the whole scenario through a child's eyes, because we are indeed children still. "To my Valkyrie" is my dedication to the person it was written for a to and has a special link to the theme of the poem, if you read closely. Hope you like
