Juliet

Eyes lock

Not just a metaphor

I cannot turn away nor even adjust

My eye line

Without grating on the sides

Of the catch.

The pain of it whispers around a curl,

Follows it around my face

Creeps round my lips

Until I shiver.

Feel it on me now

Like fingers that trace around my throat

(I love you and that's why I have to kill you)

Lines that appear under starlight

Or the third moon in every second month

Like magic

When I can't choke it down

And it breaks through

My countenance

Like forever and never

Time heals everything

In time

But yesterday and tomorrow

Not much help to me today
