“This victory surpasses all others, therefore we must celebrate. Servants, begin the feast!” The leader of Athens sat down and immediately was surrounded by crowds of people congratulating and praising him. Servants came bustling into the huge banquet hall, layering the tables with mountains of food and wine.
“Ah Artemis, I’m so glad you came!” said one of the many grinning men, although this one sported a jagged scar running down his right cheek.
“I wouldn’t have missed this for all the fish Poseidon could give me,” replied Artemis, his smile widening as he eyed his battle-weary father, “I see the campaign treated you well.”
“This?” he asked pointing to his fresh scar, “Don’t worry about that son, I think the other solider somehow ended up with my sword though his stomach so I suppose we’re even.” He laughed and then added, “I’m just going to find your mother, stay here a while.”
Watching his father limping off into the crowds of celebrating Greeks, Artemis idly picked some grapes off the table, his eyes now flickering amongst the guests; old and young, men and women, soldiers and civilians. It seemed everyone in the noble families had been invited. Of course, thought Artemis, the peasants will be celebrating in their fields. He chuckled, turned and found himself gazing straight into sparkling deep brown eyes. Her tunic was midnight blue, with gold stars etched onto it, and her hair was long, dark and glossy. He was instantly entranced.
