How do you lie to a wise aged man

And believe to get away with it?

When he has seen many wars

Lost all his brothers

And with a brain that has more common sense

How can you hope?

To think he’ll let go

When he sees it in your wide true eyes?

What shall you do?

You lie.....for days, for weeks

For years

You come to lie again

But he’s not there.....

That man has died and gone away

In front of the porch where the children shall play

And you can’t lie another day.....

Now you know what wrong you’ve done

And how you lost the chance

To take it back

So he’ll always remember you

As a lying sinner with good intentions

You lie.....for days, for weeks

For years

And now

That man has left you

Alone at the house with nothing to do

And your lies overshadow what is true....
