So I thought I might put these songs up because I'm that bored and that sad lol. I don't know if I'll be able to put them all in The Obsession With Jack so I thought I'd put them here so if anyone is as sad and boring as I am (ha, I say that as if it's actually possible) they can look here and see what I'm talking about. I'd love any reviews, as per usual. Got to go now, toodles.
That Charity shop thing
Written by Jack Dante, performed by Egburt 2
I met a pop star yesterday
While I was stacking shelves
He asked me what I liked to play
To listen to myself.
Do you know Liberace?
He asked me.
I don’t know how to spell it
Mate, I don’t know shit, my friend.
Do you like Jazz? He asked me
Do you like Jazz music?
Do you like Jazz?
I have the album, I said,
I said I have the album, but that’s it
My friend, I don’t know shit.
I just stack these music shelves
I stack them, make them neat
I sort them out and stack them up
All these old CDs.
I stack them up
I stack them high
And in my head I sing
My mind music
And I’m dancing out
That Charity Shop thing.
So you must hear a lot, then?
I asked him.
You hear a lot of music
Then, they’re two pounds each, my friend.
I play music. He told me
I play sometimes,
I play music.
Oh, how nice, I said,
I said so what’s that like, playing
My friend, I have no life, you see.
I just stack these music shelves
I stack them, make them neat
I sort them out and stack them up
All these old CDs.
I stack them up
I stack them high
And in my head I sing
My mind music
And I’m dancing out
That Charity Shop thing.
It nice when you’re lonely,
He told me
When you play your own music
And you’re lonely, on your own, and
It’s raining, he said.
Iplay it then
When I’m alone.
And your last CD was…
Jazz, I said. Coincidence, so
Strange when that happens, no?
I hope he’s not famous
I thought then.
I’ll be on the telly all foolish and
Dumb for not bowing to Elton John
Or someone, I thought.
I looked left then
As if I knew.
Jazz, he says. I don’t like Jazz music
What about you, do you like Jazz?
And I just stacked those music shelves
I stacked them, made them neat
I sorted them out and stacked them up
All those old CDs.
I stacked them up
I stacked them high
And in my head I sang
My mind music
And I was dancing out
That Charity Shop thing.
This band, he said, they’re nearly
As old as me
I laughed meekly, didn’t want to seem
Rude. What’re you going to do
With your life? You get paid here?
No, I said.
I volunteer.
The pay’s emotional instead
Seeing shelves stacked neatly
Is a rush. I’m made to do it,
I add. Oh, nods pop star
Yes, he nods. He steps away
He walks away.
I’ll leave you now
You’re surely busy.
And thanks, he said
For seeing me.
So I just stacked those music shelves
I stacked them, made them neat
I sorted them out and stacked them up
All those old CDs.
I stacked them up
I stacked them high
And in my head I sang
My mind music
And I soon danced out
That Charity Shop thing.
That's my personal favourite one I suppose because it's the only song that's actually true. Anyhoo, please review and I'll return. God, it's so weird to be writing songs. From the point of view from someone who doesn't actually exist. In a made up band. Oh well, I've done weirder.
