Ensnaring Time

Virulent toxins in my veins—
Pounding, drowning, surrounding pain;
Dying, crying, lying words—
The depths of which remain unheard!

The burning, churning, and unnerving—
Pain of which I’m just now learning!
I thought I saw, but I was blind—
I thought you were here, but you weren’t mine!

The bleeding, fleeting, screaming hurt—
For nothing I was ever worth!
Nothing e’er was achieved;
And nothing else can be believed!

Charming, alarming is your voice—
How did I ever make this choice?
How did I miss the falling, calling sound?
Those words your lying lips avowed—

The daring, glaring, sweet ensnaring—
Time that slips by; so uncaring!
The alerting, hurting view of this scene—
To find that nothing was a dream!
