Chapter 26

Jacquin and Wei stood there in shock and it didn’t seem like they would snap out of it anytime soon. That was until both of them were hit in the head with a pillow which was thrown by Tess herself. They snapped out of their shock and looked at Tess and a pain stricken Christine. “Well just don’t stand there get out Christine to the bed” Tess snapped at them angrily. Jacquin rushed forward and scooped Christine up in his arms and rushed, nearly stumbling to the bed and placed her down upon it.

Tess started to get Christine ready for delivery. “I think you two should wait outside” she said turning her gaze to Jacquin and Wei for a moment. “I believe your right” Wei said before he walked quickly out of the room, Jacquin stayed in his spot beside Christine. “Jacquin?”

Jacquin shook his head, “No I’m going to stay here” he said as he held Christine’s hand wincing from the pressure that she was putting on it. “Christine dear...My hand...” he breathed out slowly as he tried to loosen Christine’s hold on him before she ended up breaking every bone in his hand. Christine glared at him, “Don’t you dare complain about the pain. You got me pregnant so you have to go through some pain as well” she seethed out at him with clenched teeth.

Jacquin sighed and nodded, he took the cloth that Tess had given him along with a large bowl of cold water. He would ring it out before damping Christine’s face every now and then as she lay there in bed. Crying in pain as contractions hit her. Every contraction she had only made her add more pressure she had on her lovers hand.

Jacquin winced every time though he tried to hide it. He didn’t know why he was trying to show so much pride at a time like this? An hour soon passed followed by another after another. Soon twelve hours had passed and the twins still haven’t been delivered. Jacquin and Tess tried their best to stay awake as they comforted Christine during this time.

Food was brought to them every two hours by servants that Wei had sent to them. Wei now and then would check up on them to see if the babies had yet been brought into this world. When the thirteenth hour passed Tess mentioned that it was time for Christine to start pushing. Two nurses and one doctor was called in but Christine refused even against everyone’s protest to allow them to them. At that very moment she only trusted Tess to bring her babies into the world.

Christine let out screams of agony as she pushed her hardest to get her first child out of her. She gripped Jacquin’s hand and a pillow with the other. Jacquin was wishing to be the pillow right now for she wasn’t holding onto the pillow as tightly as she was gripping his hand. He thought he heard a crack and mumbled that she must have broken a bone in his hand or at least cracked it.

“Come on Christine you must push harder the baby is almost out” Tess called over Christine’s screams.

“I am pushing as hard as I can” Christine snapped as she shuddered with immense pain. Tears started to spill from her eyes that were only half way open from the pain, she looked at Jacquin. Jacquin gave her a comforting smile, “Come on my love I know you can do it. Just one more big hard push and our first child will be out” he spoke calmly though deep down he was panicking for the health of his love and children. Christine looked to be growing paler.

Christine looked at Jacquin’s eyes and smiled. She nodded before she clutched his hand tightly even more so and closed her eyes. She let out a scream as she gave one final push. A light cry of a baby filled the room as Christine and Jacquin’s first child was delivered. Jacquin looked over at Tess who was handing the baby to a nurse to be cleaned. “Ok great job. Take a small second break before we get the second one.” Tess said looking back at her friend who was breathing quite heavily and sweating. Christine nodded, but she knew the break wouldn’t be long she could feel the other baby coming.

Jacquin slipped his hand out of Christine’s, saying he would be right back and walked over to where the nurse had taken the first born baby. He looked down upon the infant that was now clean and wrapped in a blue fur blanket. He smiled and looked at the nurse, “What is it?” he asked meaning toward the sex of his first child.

“It’s a boy sire” the nurse replied to him.

Jacquin nodded and looked down at his son. He lifted his hand and ran a finger across his son’s small cheek. He retracted his hand the moment the boy started to fuss. The nurse smiled and picked the boy up. Just then Jacquin heard a cry of pain and rushed back to his future wife’s side and grasped her hand before she could grab hold of anything else of him. Tess had told Christine to push again and that’s just what she was doing.

But the delivery of the last twin was harder then the other and longer. An hour passed before Tess told Christine to take her final push. By now Christine was no longer grasping Jacquin’s hand but his entire arm. Jacquin could be seen struggling to get out of his fiancee’s bone crushing grasp.

Another babies cry filled the air and the baby was rushed to be cleaned and wrapped in a red fur blanket. Jacquin walked over to the nurses, “Congratulations Lord Jacquin you are the father of a handsome baby boy and beautiful baby girl” she said before handing the infants over to their father. A wide smile was on Jacquin’s face as he held the twins close to him.

“A boy and a girl” he whispered in awe before he turned and walked over Christine and sat beside her. “Look we have twins a boy and a girl” he said to her the wide smile was still on his face. Christine smiled and sat up with a little difficulty, Tess helped her and had her sat back against the pillows. She hugged her friend before she left leaving the new family alone. When the door closed Jacquin sat right next to Christine leaning against the pillows as well. He hands her their son while he refused to stop cradling their daughter.

Christine rolled her eyes at his gestures with their new born daughter yet could not help but smile at their new family. “I’m sorry happy you’re here. I thought I would never see you here for their birth I’m happy though.”

Jacquin placed a kiss upon her fair cheek. “Likewise my dear Christine. Now what shall we name them?”

Christine looked her children over and smiled. “Names are hard to decide upon Jacquin. But for our son...He seems worthy of the name Balin” she said as she kissed her son’s forehead and smiled as he opened his eyes and looked up at her. She could see that he had inherited her green eyes and his father dark blackish hair. She looked at their daughter, who had her reddish brown hair that had a little black in it, and her fathers deep brown eyes.

“Balin? Interesting name. I believe it suits our son” Jacquin said before he tapped his chin in thought he knew by the look in his fiancee’s eyes that she wanted him to think of a name for their daughter. He looked his daughter over and nodded, “Well our little one here seems worthy of my mothers old name, Nadine” he said before he looked at Christine.

“Nadine? A wonderful name for such a beautiful baby girl”

“She has her mothers beauty”

“She does not. I can see she is clearly far more beautiful then I”

“Maybe so but I think you’re beautiful still Christine”

“Is that one reason why you are marrying me?”

“No. No. Well that’s one reason...”

“You shallow little man”

“Little? I believe I am taller then you. Wait where are you going and just whom are you calling shallow?” Jacquin asked as he stood and followed Christine from the room down many halls until they got to the room that Christine had been staying in. She walked over to a large crib and placed Balin down inside and covered him up. Jacquin did the same. He looked down upon his children, “I believe tomorrow I shall send word to Barke. To tell my father and Antonio of the good news and to send a carriage so we may travel there with the children” Jacquin wrapped his arm around his fiancee’s waist.

“Sound like a wonderful idea” Christine replied as she turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck and stood slightly up on her toes. Seeing this Jacquin grinned and leaned forward until their lips met in a passionate kiss.
