Sunset”

Meg ‘tN!!’ Doherty (Wish Wielder)

I rode off into the sunset today

But it wasn’t like the experts say

There was no white knight, no brilliant snowy steed

All I saw was a vast blue sea

I climbed the tallest peak today

But it wasn’t like the experts say

There was no majestic view, nothing to take my breath away

All I saw was a great big cliff

I fell down on my knees today

But it wasn’t like the experts say

There was just a cry breaking from my lips

“I’ve tried on my own, it just won’t do

I need You now to see this day through”

“I’m so small on my own, I get lost real quick

And it doesn’t take much to make me tick

I’ve lost You again, I’m scared of the dark

And all that’s here is my breaking heart”

“Give me the strength to not turn away

Make me remember always to pray

Remind me I can’t make it on my own

Remind me I don’t need to be strong”

“Remind me You don’t need me

But You want me anyway

Remind me of the price You paid

So I could see Your face”

I rode off into the sunset today

But it wasn’t like the experts say

There was no fairy tale, no prince to whisk me away

All I saw was the Father’s love for me
