Secrets

She has too many secrets. They are not hers; oh no, she is not the type to do anything that would need to be kept secret, but instead they are her friends’, her sister’s, her brother’s. Her sister, for example, is dating an older boy she shouldn’t be. He takes drugs, smokes, gets drunk far too often. Her brother is dating the exact same boy, and he shouldn’t be either. One of her friends was pregnant and had an abortion, another cuts herself.

The thing about her though, the thing that makes her different, is that she never tells secrets. And she never wonders if she should, because secrets are secrets are secrets and should not be told.

And maybe, this is the wrong thing to do.
