Symmetry

She was not pretty, but he said she was. He was not ugly, but she said he was. She cried, he laughed. She fought, he retreated. She hated, he loved. They did not attract each other; and she hated Physics anyway, and like she cared about opposites attracting. They did not repulse each other either, and he did care about Physics, so he said they couldn’t be the same. She laughed at him and he laughed with her, and they hung around each other while his friends stared at her, and her friends stared at him.

And there was an odd kind of symmetry in the way they stared at each other.
