Flirting With Inflection

Silent adjectives set me up for
a blind date,
one I never asked for,
with a little gal named
inflection
that packs a hard punch.

I met her in a country bar
when the karaoke
ladies were singing I will
survive
in all the different keys.

We went down the highway,
stopped at an
attraction
on the roadside
because I lusted for hot dogs
and sheneeded some
fresh ulterior motives.

A zoo with six animals and
the world's biggest question mark?
No question, no
Hot Dogs.
Maybe a conspiracy, though.

We drove down a muddy path.
A long and winding
street called
negativity.

Now inflection's
flirting with another man,
carelessly,
while my wife sits in the bedroom
crying.
And I have to sleep on the couch.
