The World Ended

The apocalypse did not come with a bang, and the world did not end with a whimper. There were no horsemen, no demons from hell arising to let loose flames to devour the earth, no Yggdrasil, no gods falling and dying. There was no World War Three, no bombs or crashes or fiery, painful deaths. I heard no screaming, I saw no dying, I felt no pain. The skies did not split, the seas did not boil, and the people did not flee to the hills.

Instead, the world ended with the beginning, and started all over again.
