Wiping all remnants

The dirt is gone
The classroom looks
as good as new, with
hardly a hint that we
once studied there.

The lockers are bare
The chalkboard is
free of all chalk drawings,
and is now empty,
left with only a shade of green.

The aisles are cleared
The banner is taken down,
along with the decorations,
thrown at a side, never
to be used again.

So now, six rows of tables
are placed neatly side by side,
clean, free of scribbles done
in lessons out of sheer boredom,
all ready for the next class to come.

Armed with rags in hand, we
scrubbed vigorously away,
making the classroom spick and span,
chasing away the dust,
removing all our personal belongings.

Wiping off all remnants of our occupancy.

The classroom will never be ours again
as we bring our things home
ready to move them again next year
off to our different separate classes.

The dust has left.
The classroom looks new,
but
strangely
bare.

A.N.: Dedicated to all my precious and great classmates. Though we will be separated next year, may we always be bonded in heart and in mind, forever 202'05.
