Death of Merlin

Merlin may be a powerful mage,

but Fate, even he can’t change.

His magic may be very strong,

but these powers will not last him long.

It is, in truth, a bit clichéd,

how our Merlin lost his way,

for stolen hearts are often bruised.

Bruised, cast off, and much misused.

His heart’s desire, Nyneve,

was not at all in love with he.

She stayed with him so she might learn

the powers for which she so yearned.

As time did tell, she did prevail

in learning all for which she ailed,

but Merlin’s love for her was great,

a consequence she learned too late.

She chose to leave him underground,

where he by no one would be found.

Fate, again, got her way,

as she does to this day.
