He entered the park 5 minutes early
Sat on the bench that was made out of stone
There in the open he waited forever
Sitting and watching and waiting alone.
Eternity passed him 20 times over
He waited for his love to show
Stared at the green grass and felt the calm wind
Still he would wait for the third date of his.

Giving up hope, he walked to her door
He knew that she had forgotten for sure
The doorbell rang once, and then one time more
No answer still, he walked away torn.

Yet something inside him told him to stay
To wait one more time for a wonderful day
He knew in his heart that she’d never forget
So there at the park he sat once again.

He waited for not too much longer than that
Before she came running in coat and her hat
He smiled and hugged her with utter delight
And said “It’s okay” to comfort her plight
He knew that she’d come if he had the faith
Sitting and watching and willing to wait.
