A/N: Okay so heres my first attempt of posting a story. I started this story a while ago and just recently decided I wanted to continue it, so I only have two chapters as of today. I'll try to update regularly, but no garuntees. Enjoy.
It didn't seem fair to her. No. It didn't seem logical. Abby's expression softened when the girl sat down across from her. All Abby wanted to do right now was break into hysterics, but with her friend sitting in front of her, staring with eyes full of concern, she decided she needed to hold back the tears.
"Are you going to tell me what's bothering you or not?" Alex asked.
Abby couldn't face her, not now. She had been weakening by the day and today was one of her worst days. Her gaze stuck on the ground, she only let out a weak, "I think you should leave..."
Alex stood in frustration then grabbed Abby's wrist forcefully. "I come back to the room and find you running a blade across your wrist, and now you just want me to leave! That's bull!" She screamed furious, then let go of the wrist and stalked across the room to the window, gazing out at the cloudy sky.
Not getting a response from her distraught roommate, Alex continued to speak from her position at the window. "Whatever it is, it can't be so bad that you need to kill yourself." She said very matter-of-factly, as though she actually knew what she was talking about.
"You wouldn't understand..." Abby said meekly.
"What?" Her roommate asked, turning around to face her.
Clenching and unclenching her fists, Abby bit her lip and then stood up. "I said you wouldn't understand!" She screamed and then ran into the bathroom, locking the door behind her.
On the bathroom floor she fell apart into sobs. She was terrible, unworthy or her friend's concern. Not worth of anyone's time. She never wanted to feel that emotion ever again, she never wanted to feel the need to be attached to someone.
A loud pounding fell upon the door. "Abby, if you don't open this door, I am going to break it down. I don't care about paying the damages." After not getting a response she called her roommates name once more, a little more demanding.
"Just leave me alone!!" She screamed back through the sobs, reaching desperately for something to hold tightly. She finally tore a towel down from the towel rack and squeezed it tightly to her chest, feeling as though she would fall completely apart if she didn't.
The rest of it remained a blur to her. There was a crash, and then a pair of strong arms squeezing her in a warm embrace. The whole time she remained conscious, and yet at the same time unconscious. She had finally lost that last remaining sense of sanity.
Then amidst the unbalanced mental state, she heard a sound. A beautiful sound. Slowly it brought her back, just barely enough to realize where she was, and who she was with.
Abby rested trembling in the arms of her roommate, Alex, who was singing just loudly enough so her broken roommate could hear. Tears still streamed down Abby's pale face, and although she was only beginning to regain consciousness, she felt her heart drop to her stomach.
"Let go of me." She said weakly, pushing her away and landing on the cool bathroom floor, still trembling, and still tear-stricken. Sensing a hand reaching out for her weakened body she quickly spoke up. "Please Alex... don't touch me..."
Alex didn't understand. She didn't understand what had gotten into her roommate. No, her best friend. Nothing made sense. Why was Abby, her childhood friend, pushing her away now? What had happened to the once strong willed girl she knew...
Glancing at her roommate, she realized that Abby had passed out. Not feeling as though she could leave her on the bathroom floor, she picked up the crumbled teenager and brought her into the other room.
Placing her down gently on the bed, Alex reached out to brush a stray hair from Abby’s face, and then found herself stopping before actually reaching her face. Perhaps she should just leave. It was clear that her roommate needed to rest. What had brought this to happen must’ve taken a lot out of Abby. But what frustrated her the most, is that nothing was ever said to her.
She got up and sighed. “Sweet dreams Abby.” Then feeling thoroughly defeated for some reason, she left the room, while a single tear trailed down the sleeping teen’s cheek.
