Your sounds in the night

Get me though the day.

My eyes shine as your voice,

Deep and rich, like wine, humbles you to me.

You know me inside and out,

And I you.

Your laugh is infectious,

It’s the worst disease of all, but

Last night, my worst night was the one

Night that you didn’t laugh at all.

You told me that you loved me

Then you bid me adieu

As the pills that you swallowed through your body flew.

You wrote it in a letter

Instead of telling me on the phone

You thought that life would be better

If your soul into heaven could be flown.

You showed me how to live,

You showed me how to breathe

The only thing you didn’t show me

Was how much it all means.
