A Type II Supernova
by Siberia

Note: These words seeped into my psyche as I awoke from a nap.

for
eons
i was
in
hydrostatic
equilibrium

i went
through
many fuels:
hydrogen
helium
carbon
oxygen
neon
sodium
magnesium
silicon

but now
with an
iron heart
i've
run out
of
options—
there's
simply
no more
thermal
energy
to be
made
to push
against
my decay

betrayed...
by my
own
body
i can't...
fight the
immense
pressure
any...
longer
gravity
is...
crushing
me
i can't...
move
anymore

this...
rapid
compression
hurts...
and the
heat
is
too much...
i'm
burning
alive...
from the
inside

all the...
layers
of my
skin...
are
ripping
apart...
invisible
hands
constrict...
my neck
and...
i...
can't...
brea–
