A/N -- It seems that there has been some confusion about this paper, and I felt that I ought to clear it up. I’m not so oblivious that I think that our country is comparable to third world countries. I’m not trying to insult the people in Africa, or our in government. I’m well aware that there are welfare programs in the US. This was written as an essay for my English class, with the aim to be something of an exercise in hyperbole. Although this paper is obviously influenced by my own opinions, they have all been grossly exaggerated. There is some fact, such as thatteens as young as thirteen being in prison without parole, sometimes for not “legitimate” reason, per say, but I don’t really think that our nation is as incredibly oppressive as my paper makes it sound. I’m sorry if I have offended/confused someone, but I didn’t realize until after I had posted that it wouldn’t be apparent that this was supposed to be exaggeration. My apologies.
