the road is growing longer

and there is no chance to linger

till your hand is holding mine

solitary footsteps never bring me anything new

and my voice is in the wind calling you

why won't you break this silence

and come back to me

amid the snow I walk silently

blindly beating back the wind

step in every footprint twice

I might have looked away

and missed you waving from train

why won't you break this silence

and come back to me

and even though everything stands between

and everyone is telling me you're only a dream

fly away from morning if the dawn tells you to flee

make your way home again and into the heart of me

and though I know time will never listen

the memories that drive me back

will always show like an old movie

on a lonely darkened screen

won't you break these chains

and come back to me

come back to me
