Sick

You’ve told me took look inside—
Look past the mask and past the lies;
But truly do you care to see—
The something—nothing—inside me?

Have you seen the hypocrisy—
Look in the mirror then to see!
A mask you’ve constructed and believe;
It’s something all of us truly need!

I’ve meant to spare a glance at you—
But it’s too meaningless to be true;
And you’re too transparent to matter much;
And only gossamer is your touch!

I’d rather my eyes just slide shut—
Looking at this, I can’t trust;
I can’t just watch and not feel sick—
I can’t stand to look at this!
