Child-size Visions

Fogged images dance before me.

Glass covered in semi-transparent frost,

Obscures my view.

A youthful version of myself

Sits on a giant sized couch

Feet idly twitch and dangle over the edge.

Young fearful eyes dart around the room

A suffocating silence chokes the air.

Suddenly a scraping scream reverberates of the walls.

Small feet pitter-patter on the cement floor of

A long dark hallway.

I watch as my child self runs down a never-ending passage.

Tripping over some unseen abyss

The shadows consume the falling figure

Jolting away the cold sweat still lingers.

I solemnly wonder what becomes of my nocturnal self.
