Goodbye

I saw you in a dream,

You were as happy as you could be.

You told me not to worry,

But how could I not?

When knowing that you died so young,

You never had the fun of being an adult.

You said that you were having more fun,

Than you would have if you were living,

And although you missed your friends,

You knew you’d see them soon.

I started to cry crystalline tears,

You wiped them from my cheeks,

You told me to enjoy my life,

To remember you,

Even if you were gone.

“Hey,” you said, “this beats Military School.

Now, at least, I won’t have to worry about fighting in Iraq.”

I smiled and you smiled,

I saluted you and you walked away.

Even though I cry,

I’ll remember you everyday.

Dedicated to James Stephen Morris MakaiOverlord a fellow author on Fictionpress. He died yesterday from a car accident. He was only 18 years old and was going to Military School.
