The Emptiness Within

By Sean Archon

The way grows dark,

The path is hidden in shadows.

The birds croak out doom.

For the traveler, there is only one way out.

One way to fill the emptiness within.

The paths of life are hazy,

The way cannot be seen, be felt.

The shadows are all around.

He sees the end, but cannot reach it.

Cannot fill the emptiness within.

Friends all around are escaping,

Fleeing to the better roads,

The traveler sees them go.

But for him there is no way out.

No way to escape the emptiness within.

Just a lie, just a trick,

Just a deception is his path,

Leading him nowhere.

Leading only to an abrupt end.

The end of the emptiness within.

For he cannot escape his path,

Cannot run to another place.

There is only one way out of this rut:

Defend himself from his problems.

End the emptiness within.

Real is his pain,

His despair consumes all

Where can he go to escape?

There is no way out but one

One path to the emptiness within.
