Mikey Monkey Plays In The Mud
By Taylor Rogers and Justin Sword
Meet Mikey Monkey. Mikey Monkey lives with Mommy Monkey in the biggest oak tree on Duck Pond. Mikey Monkey likes to play outside. Mikey Monkey likes to dig in the mud. Mikey Monkey likes to get all muddy.
But today Mikey Monkey is sad. Mikey Monkey has no one to play with. There is no one to jump, jump, jump in the mud with.
Mommy Monkey calls Mommy Rabbit to come over. Robby Rabbit is coming over also. Robby Rabbit is coming to jump, jump, jump in the mud with Mikey Monkey.
Mommy Monkey says, “Mikey Monkey, guess who’s here to play with you.”
“Is it Kenny Kangaroo?” Mikey Monkey asks.
“No, it is not Kenny Kangaroo,” Mommy Monkey answers.
“Is it Sammy Snake?” Mikey Monkey asks.
“No, it is not Sammy Snake,” Mommy Monkey answers.
“Is it Robby Rabbit?” Mikey Monkey asks.
“Yes, it is Robby Rabbit! Robby Rabbit is coming to play with you today,” Mommy Monkey answers.
“Hurray!” says Mikey Monkey.
Mikey Monkey jumped, jumped, jumped around the room and smiled.
Robby Rabbit and Mommy Rabbit knocked on the door. Knock, knock, knock.
Mommy Monkey opened the door.
Robby Rabbit ran to Mikey Monkey.
“Hello, Mikey Monkey!” Robby Rabbit said.
“Hello, Robby Rabbit!” Mikey Monkey said.
“Go play outside, boys,” Mommy Monkey told the boys.
“Yes ma’am,” said Mikey Monkey and Robby Rabbit.
“Robby Rabbit, don’t get muddy!” Mommy Rabbit warned.
“Yes, Mommy Rabbit,” Robby Rabbit answered politely.
Mikey Monkey and Robby Rabbit went into the forest to play in their playhouse.
Mikey Monkey went jump, jump, jump into a big mud puddle. But Robby Rabbit was sad. He told Mommy Rabbit he would not jump, jump, jump in the mud.
“Come on, Robby Rabbit. Play in the mud with me. It’s fun!” Mikey Monkey told Robby Rabbit.
“I can’t play with you in the mud, Mikey Monkey. My mommy will be very upset if I play in the mud. I cannot jump, jump, jump in the mud with you,” said Robby Rabbit.
“You don’t know what great fun you’re missing!” Mikey Monkey shouted.
“I have a better idea, Mikey Monkey. Why don’t we go play in the playhouse instead? Then I won’t have to jump, jump, jump in the mud and get muddy. Mommy Rabbit will be very proud of me,” Robby Rabbit suggested.
“Yes, that’s a good idea. Let’s go play in the playhouse,” Mikey Monkey agreed.
Mikey Monkey tried to get out of the mud but he was stuck! Oh no, what ever will Mikey Monkey do?
Mikey Monkey tried to jump, jump, jump out of the mud. But it didn’t work.
Mikey Monkey tried to crawl, crawl, crawl out of the mud. But it didn’t work.
Mikey Monkey tried to stomp, stomp, stomp out of the mud. But it didn’t work.
“I’ll help you!” said Robby Rabbit.
Robby Rabbit grabbed Mikey Monkey’s hand. Robby Rabbit pulled, pulled, pulled Mikey Monkey’s hand. But it didn’t work.
Suddenly, Willie Weasel came strolling up to the two boys.
“Hello, boys. What’s going on here?” Willie Weasel asked.
“I jumped, jumped, jumped in the mud and I got stuck. Now I cannot get out,” Mikey Monkey answered.
“You’re stuck in the mud?” Willie Weasel asked.
“Yes. Can you help me get out of the mud?” Mikey Monkey asked.
“Yes, I can help you get out of the mud,” Willie Weasel answered.
Willie Weasel and Robby Rabbit grabbed Mikey Monkey’s arm and pulled, pulled, pulled until Mikey Monkey was free!
“Hurray!” They shouted. Mikey Monkey was out of the mud.
Mikey Monkey, Robby Rabbit, and Willie Weasel all went to the playhouse and played together for the rest of the day. And they did not jump, jump, jump in the mud again.
The end.
