33, 34 & 35- Discussion

First panel: Bryn's dad is standing near the door of their house. Bryn is entering with Chay right behind.

“Would you like to explain to me why your brother returned an hour and a half before you did?”

“Um, well--”

“And don't give me that crap about you going to a different movie--”

Second panel:Jason is descending the stairs, disgruntled look on his face. He's now in gray sweat pants and a black t-shirt. Dad looks surprised.

“Dad, give it a rest.” Jason says. “It's not her fault me and Amelia had a fight.”

“A fight? Why didn't you say so?”

Third panel: Bryn is trying to act like this isn't news, as is Chay. Their father is looking at her, almost scrutinizing her.

Fourth panel: He's back to Jason, who is now right in front of him.

“Because I didn't see how it was your business.” Jason says. “And I didn't and still don't want to talk about it.”

“Right.”

Fifth panel: Chay is looking a bit uncomfortable. Bryn is looking at him with a slight smile.

“I should get going, I'll see you tomorrow?”

“Definitely.”

Sixth panel: He pecks her on the cheek as Jason and Dad continue to have a stare off.

“Bye.”

“Bye.” She says.

Eight panel: He's quietly leaving.

Ninth panel: Jason and Dad are still having a stare off. Chay has officially gone. Bryn is looking at the whole thing with a mixture of disgust and thankfullness.

Why is it that Dad has to care a little too much about these things? And poor Jason, he looks serious!

“I take it it didn't end well.”

“That would be putting it mildly.”

Tenth panel: Dad is walking upstairs. Jason looks relieved.

“I'm sorry, for what it's worth.”

“Thanks.” Jason says.

Eleventh panel: Jason is looking at Bryn, soberly. She's giving him a slightly more upbeat look.

“Thanks.” She says.
“No problem.”

“So... is it true?”

“Yeah. She was using me for status. Should have seen it coming.”

“I'm sorry. How did you figure it out?”

“I saw her obviously flirting with a guy when I was coming back from the bathroom. She didn't see me until it was too late.”

Twelfth panel: Bryn is wincing.

“Ouch.”

“Yeah. So how did yours go?”

Thirteenth panel: She's smiling now, and he looks happier.

“Really well, thanks for setting us up.”

“Not a problem. I was hoping you two would hit it off. You seem compatible enough. And you both deserved it.”

“So what about you?”

Fourteenth panel: He looks confused.

“What about me?”

“Well, you know, with you and Amelia--”

“I'll be fine, trust me. It's better I figure it out now rather than three months from now when she moves onto... whoever she moves onto.”

“I'm sorry.”

“Me too, but hey, that's the way the ball bounces. What I'm wondering is what we're going to do now that Dad doesn't want us practicing in the yard.”

Fifteenth panel: Bryn looks surprised. He's smiling slightly.

“You still want to train me?”

“Course, why wouldn't I?”

“I dunno, I guess with Dad being all weird.”

Sixteenth panel: He's smiling larger now. She looks slightly apprehensive.

“Dad is just being dad, don't worry, he'll get over it.”

“You sure?”

“I'm sure.”

Somehow, I doubt that Dad will actually come around, but there's no point in arguing. I want to learn how to use my powers, regardless. I want to know what I can do, and I want to know that I'm in control...

Seventeenth panel: Jason looks a bit concerned.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, why?”

“You just look a little pale...”

“It's just... if there's supposed to be a downside to these powers, I haven't hit it yet.”

Eighteenth panel: Jason is giving her a slight smile.

“You'll be okay. It won't be that bad, whatever happens.”

“But something is coming, isn't it?”

“I've never met anyone who had powers who didn't have... something.”

“That's sort of what I figured.”

“I'm sorry.”

“Me too.”

Look what I found that I hadn't uploaded yet! I really need to come up with a better system to make sure this doesn't happen... or maybe I should just finish a few projects so I don't have to worry about it. :) Concept!
