There is a darkness inside us calling us by our true names
Telling us why we were made to feel pain and hate the same
As our parents before us
Giving us false hope in names
Hoping we won't give into the blade
They handed us with the blame
Envy – everything you aren't
Pride – in all I am
Greed – consumes your fate
Anger – contorts your face
Lust – for all I possess
Gluttony – consuming too much
Sloth – fucking slow motion
There is a monster within our souls
Tempting us with what we need
To make it through the dark night
Blind to ourselves in our shell we bleed
But we don't even understand our souls
The answerless questions we need
To balance the shadow with the light
To justify passing on the human seed
Envy – everything you aren't
Pride – in all I am
Greed – consumes your fate
Anger – contorts your face
Lust – for all I possess
Gluttony – consuming too much
Sloth – fucking slow motion
Seven deadly sins for seven deadly seas
Ten commands for ten fingers
So quick to anger
And fast to hate
But what do you do if I don't take the bait?
It pisses me off that although I am clearly a better person, my neighbor, whose wife I'd love to fuck, makes more money than I do because I'm too busy eating hamburgers and sleeping sixteen hours a day.
