Seasons of Summer

Another Monday flies by in this whirlwindy world

Getting lost in the sights and the sounds

Where lives spin in circles like merry-go-rounds

How easily everyone drowns

There are days when I want to stop running

And to sleep with my head on your shoulder

There are days when I don’t want tomorrow to come

When I don’t want to get any older

From moment to moment we rush and we dream

Clasping hands tight as we’re crossing the stream

New groves to explore and new treetops to climb

We never once think that we’ll run out of time

But when the sun sets tonight the sky will never look the same

And out by the ocean, where water meets shore

Where you took a broken shell and wrote carefully my name

Come the morning tides the letters shall be there no more

Our footprints in the sand will fade away

As waters ebb and flow

But I don’t want to see the end of today

I don’t want to ever let you go
