Hola!! No real comments other then its short. And yeah that’s a bummer. But the next one is already being written so it’s like 1 long one only I’m not making you wait right? Yeah. That’s my mind set.

Last time :

Dia was captured by the salient Gabriel. Who unleashed a hidden power within Dia and hinted at some ulterior motives. A shocking discovery left us reunited with our missing friend, Ryan.

Blood Symphony

Chapter 7: All alone; better off on your own

“Is it you…please…Ryan?” Dia spoke weakly before slumping to the floor. The stress of capture, the disorientation of the oozing pale room, the new power surging thru her veins, even Gabriel’s suffocating aura; all of this Dia could handle. But this, any rationalized thought clambered uselessly against this surprise. The revelation consumed any thoughts of the present.

Dia clutched her hand to her chest as her breathing labored and she entered the realm of her memories. This ghost figure from her past forced her to relive her scratchy childhood.

Dia felt herself dropping again onto a scene from her past. She slowly drifted down and sat next to a small child who was similarly seated next to a larger male over looking the city at night. Three pairs of legs dangled over the edge of steep apartment buildings. No fear is felt from the precarious height. Instead a sense of calm is gained from the simple act of removing oneself from the hectic stream of life. The older man speaks,

Hey kid. I’m not here to judge you. So I’m not gonna ask you where you’re from. Or what your story is. I don’t want you thinking this is some kinda rehab group. ‘A stepping stone on the path to reentering society.’ There’s a place for that not seven blocks south of here.

But if you have no other place to go and you’re looking for a family bond that runs deeper then blood. Then as long as I’m around I’ll promise to protect you. There will always be a place for you in our family. Ya understand?” He finished with a warm smile confirming his deep sincerity regarding the casually spoken words.

A scruffy little girl with a matted black ponytail that was trying to escape from a red weathered cap, nodded in earnest. The man nodded back once, an unspoken signature for the pact just made.

So you gotta name squirt?” The man asked casually. The girl scrunched up her tiny childlike features and replied,

I’m no ‘squirt’ and my name’s Dia. What’s yours old man?” Her companion couldn’t help but to chuckle. A warm sounded reverberating from the back of his throat clearly conveying his amusement at the girl’s spunk.

Yeah well I’m no old man,” He replied back just as saucily, “and my name is Ryan.” The child Dia closed her eyes thoroughly locking the new name into her small mind. Ryan couldn’t help but to smile and look on.

Then they carried on studying the city lights, both marveling at the millions of tiny stars that fell to earth to share their light. All of the cars below with their gleaming rubies showing the path they’ve traveled. By looking at every small thing suddenly all together one gets a sense that everything is a part of something greater.

The silence that blanketed them was in no way uncomfortable. It was just a calm period of quiet with neither anxiously waiting for the other to speak nor dreading the finality when the silence would be broken. Just two people and one figure caught up in the moment.

But time never stops. And all moments must come to an end. So wordlessly the male figure, Ryan, stood and headed back to the stairs in the middle of the roof. The girl Dia scrambled after him following just behind.

The older Dia felt herself pull away from the pair as they disappeared into the building. She smiled in remembering that this had been the day she became Ryan’s shadow.

“GAAA-mmph!!” a strangled cry broke Dia from her past. Gabriel, the new Ryan and Dia all turned to look at the door, wondering about the scream they’d heard from the other side. Seconds ticked by with no other disturbance.

Dia breathe a sigh of disappointment that no one had come to save her. They probably figured she was still at her new apartment or at school or something. No one would come rescuing her. Because nobody cared. Hadn’t she learned this already? She lived in a cruel world where the only one looking out for her, was her self. Regardless of any kiddy promise someone made her. She knew she was alone.

Gabriel smirked at Dia again ready to continue with his game when following large ominous booming sounds, the door was thrown off its hinges and it clattered uselessly to the floor.

The dark silhouette standing in the doorframe darted its head quickly around the room measuring up the occupants. In the fraction of a second that Dia blinked her eyes the figure was in front of her. Familiar raven locks spilling over his shoulders, crimson eyes locked with her shade of midnight.

“Akito how did you know I was…” Dia started to question, but Akito curtly shook his head. A gesture she read as ‘not now.’

He’s going to tell me eventually just what the hell is going on.’ Dia silently vowed to herself crossing her arms in front of her chest. Dia beyond agitated at her constant lack of explanation, glanced around the room to glare in turn at all the secret holders.

Akito then gathered Dia into his arms and turned to face a stunned Gabriel and a snarling Ryan. Gabriel quickly replaced the look of shock on his face with a nonchalant mask.

“So I see you’ve decided to join us, Akito.” In contrast to his even face Gabriel spat the name with unmistakable malice. The beast figure Ryan flexed its muscles and bared its fangs at the new enemy.

Akito eyed his opponents before turning his gaze to Dia whom he still held bridal style in his arms.

“Forgive me.” Akito whispered into her hair before she felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck. Dia felt herself loosing consciousness as the room grew dark. Her arms loosened and body went lax. Akito tightened his grip on her in a protective embrace before charging swiftly at the enemy. She could barely make out the sounds of fighting before the darkness consumed her.

The last thoughts that rambled around Dia’s head were why did he come to save her? Protection was a comfort only found in her memories. So why did Akito keep showing up? What ulterior motives hid behind his mysterious actions?

Dia felt nostalgic towards her simple life. Sure she’d wanted excitement but the constant struggle for her life left her confused and exhausted. Surrounded by all these people she felt alone; she was better off on her own.

Yesh. Like I said short. But yeah the other one soon yes? So do not fret and don’t be mean. I less then three you all. 3 ciao!
