The Summer

By: Kaye15

Prologue

The cold, crisp air sent the snow skittering across the Minnesota plains. The sounds of the wind blowing through the trees made an eerie sound. As a long figure walked over the hill, the snow storm let loose. She had gotten turned around on the land, and figured she had to find a place to get out of the weather or she would freeze to death. She had just come to a cave when the storm winds started blowing really bad. She looked around for something to wrap up in, but only found wood and small supplies consisting of rope and a extra pair of boots way bigger than her feet. She put them on anyway. She climbed back further into the cave, trying to escape the freezing wind. I need to find a place to stay before I freeze to death!! She huddled in the back until the cold lulled her to sleep that she accepted readily. Anything to take her from her world of turmoil and pain.

An office in the downtown district of Norfolk, Virginia remained lit after the rest of the office had closed down. A silhouette of a man stood in the office window.

"You’re sure that she is gone?" he asked another man that stood in the office.

"Yes, we have checked all the possible places she could be, and she just seems to have disappeared." He answered.

"Well, it seems its time you went outside the state of Virginia. Find her, understand?"

"Yes, sir."
