“I Know”

Why were you staring at him?

His eyes! His eyes were an odd, light color that made his face too pale and his hair too dark. They were cast down so whenever you looked, cold lightness was all you could perceive. When he was frowning, his eyebrows furrowed, he looked as though scanning the room for danger. He frowned often, especially when he spoke with his voice crackly as though his throat were sore. If he smiled, he might be cute. He had a decent body, encased in sensible jeans and a black athletic windbreaker with white stripes running down the sleeves.

Do you even THINK? He’s a teacher!

I don’t care! I noticed a constant odd, displeased look seemed cemented on his face, as though nothing amused him. When confusion or alarm hit his ice blue eyes, he nearly looked comical. This man was not meant to show bright emotion, it seemed.

You’re crazy.

I know. Hmm… if he were a color, he would be serious, disconnected black or stubborn yellow-green. If he were a number, he would be twenty-seven, random and ordinary.

Why do you do this to yourself?

The eyes! The eyes were what struck me- wintry, unnerving blue. Attractive he would be if not for the constant frown upon his face! It is tragic, and it chills my heart. The displeased look intensifies, mayhap into concentration, as he reads or looks at pictures.

You’re off your rocker. It’s official now.

He reminds me much of Erik, probably just from the eyes and shy nature. Slightly, he frightens me. Mostly, I am intrigued.

Not more Phantom of the Opera stuff.

YES! I connected him to Erik immediately! I wondered- What lurks in the back of his mind that makes him frown so? What troubles this seemingly lonely, beautiful man?

Beautiful man”???

Yes, he was. He tired quickly, tried to sleep, but awoke by the noise of his class and mayhap by memories flashing ‘cross his eyes in the form of dreamings. His manner was tense, aloof, and uptight, but the frown broke for but a moment when he scanned me, looking me over with those chilling blues.

Now you’re giving yourself illusions of grandeur, that’s all it is.

Liar. He walked away nervously with his hands firmly in his pockets, uncomfortable in a strange woman’s classroom. Removing his jacket, we saw that he wears no rings. He was unmarried. Good news indeed.

Like you had a chance in hell!

I’m choosing to ignore that. He slept again, dozing off, fighting to stay awake. He slipped into light sleep. A slight smile broke, and for a moment he resembled Erik utterly in a rather pleasant way.

You really care about him, don’t you?

Yes, I do. Do you know what I whispered?

No. What?

Sleep, sweet boy, and dream, god willing, of me.

Aw, god, you’re insane.

I know.
