This is dedicated to Jinni-chan51, who is the inspiration of the main character, and has a major part in the other character.

I realized as I was typing this out that while it was not very long, it was also a lot like Jinni’s story, “Point of View”. So if any of you realized that, too, I’m sorry, it was unintentional.

But yes! First story in forever that’s non-angsty! Finally! I can write meaningless fluff again! You have no idea how happy that makes me. ::grins hugely::

This is the result of a bored English class when I was supposed to be analyzing poetry. I like to read poetry, just not analyzing it. Which reminds me, I actually have that for homework… heh.

Without further ado, I leave you with…

Summer Afternoons

(gak, what kind of a title is that? Usually my titles are so much better!)

She gazed in abstract admiration at the glorious vision before her. Standing there, in front of her and in full view of any who cared to look, was a human boy.

Well, she supposed he was old enough as humans saw time. To her kind seventeen was a mere child, but you could never follow human thought, and this one seemed to think he was old enough.

This particular human had messy black hair that he’d run his slender, musician hands through a fair number of times. His arms were nice enough, she supposed, muscled without being brawny, just enough so that those sexy veins showed through, and not covered in thick hair like some others she’d seen. His frame was much heavier than the wispy faerie males’ were, and she was even more intrigued. Add that to his startling, penetrating blue eyes; a colour that no faerie she’d ever heard of had, and he was damn near irresistible.

Faeries tended to have green or brown eyes, or a mix of both. Hers were unique; a very few had grey eyes. Hers just happened to be a murky, misty grey that she swore had some blue in them, but was told by others that she was just seeing what she wanted so dearly to see. She had short, curly blonde hair and a pale face structured so that if she ever cared to, she could fit in with the best, most haughty Elvin courtiers. She was short though, even for a faerie, much to her dismay. Her filmy wings were pale, pearly pink and fluttered about even when not in flight.

But this boy, man, her fascinated mind corrected her, was the most beautiful, handsome, interesting thing she’d ever seen.

The object of her scrutiny heaved a sigh that expanded his chest, pressing it gently against his shirt. She sighed with him.

“I give up, Aishiteru,” he looked penetratingly around, looking for something, or someone.

She giggled and slipped out from behind a tree, revealing her hiding place.

“It’s no fun playing hide-and-seek with you,” he complained, “You always win. Even with those wings,” he brushed a single finger over one edge and she shivered in delight.

His eyes smiled at her reaction and slowly tilted his head down. Her lips met his halfway.

Aishiteru practically melted in his arms. No matter how many times this happened, this meeting of flesh, this lost moment in time, this fusion of souls, it still overwhelmed her.

He broke away slowly, tenderly. She smiled up at him to receive one in return and leaned into his warm embrace. She thought he whispered something, breath stirring her curls, but when she asked him, he denied.

“Me, too,” she whispered happily back into his chest. “Me, too.”
