Watch me die

He watches his father die.

Blind-folded and shoved against a wall, a soldier slamming a rifle-butt into his father’s stomach, hissing out a venomous, ‘Traitor’. Traitor, traitor, traitor, treachery against the state. Caught sabotaging tanks and hauled up in front of a firing squad.

Father, he whispers.

His father stands proud until the shot comes that shatters his head, warm grey brain spattering across the wall as he crumpled to the ground.

Father, he whispers again. I’ll make you proud.

It is his turn to die.

He broke into a base and set a bomb, killing so many of them – his father had been paid back a hundred times over the past fifteen years. He had been caught on the way back though, and now he is put shoved against a wall, and it is the same wall his father was shot against.

There is a young soldier with a bitter look who spits at him, swearing at him as a traitor to the state and his country, and he laughs. Behind the soldier, he can see his ten year old son, looking terrified as the soldiers raised their guns.

He stands proud as they shot, and three ram into his chest, taking his breath away as he chokes on his own blood. Another shot goes through his head, and he dies there.

Father, his son whispers tohis body. I’ll make you proud.
