I can see myself
I can see my body hanging limp
Like a chandelier that's been caught in a draft
From someone opening the front door
I can see myself
I can see the pool of blood
From my slit wrists
The last reminder to the world
That I felt alone
I can see myself
I can see my face pale as death
A marble statue in the wrong setting
Lowered from a balcony
To drop crashing to the ground below
I can see myself
I can see my figure surrounded by strangers
Who cry out like they didn't know this was coming
Gasping and holding their hands to their mouths
As I hang my head
I can see myself
I can see the commotion
As they lower my body
Pretending to handle it with care
When all they wanted to do is discard it
In the dumpster outside
My resting place
I can see myself
I can see my body hanging limp
Like the last leaf on a tree so bare from the cold
I can see it…
And I regret it
