Woman to Woman

Everyone is faced with obstacles

Everyday a new hurdle is put up

Only to be knocked down by you

Your self esteem has been lowered

To nothing more than the little smoke that is left

After the fire has been smothered

You have been raped

You have been beaten

You have been told you are nothing

Lies told, emotional scars underneath it all

Physical scars hidden beneath sun glasses and long sleeves

They will not heal

Broken bones

Bruises and black eyes

I hate to see those blackened eyes

Losing you would be like losing an arm

How could I fight without one of my arms?

I couldn’t

You have been torn apart

Broken

Used and abused

You have been violated and betrayed

Thrown to the floor like dirty laundry

--

This is why you must stand tall

Yell at the top of your lungs

I DO NOT DESERVE THIS!

I AM BETTER THAN THIS!

You’re so much better

--

You have been raped

You have been beaten

You have been told you won’t amount to anything

But you know that’s not true

There is nothing that could be more of a lie

The truth is you are more important to this world than you will ever know

You are beautiful in every single way

Through all the pain you still make time to smile

You have a twinkle in your eye

Even if your voice may tremble

You’re incredibly strong

That’s the honest truth

You have made me stronger

I am stronger, because of you.
