An: I don’t know what this is. I don’t know where it came from. And I don’t know what I was thinking --- One shot.
Euphoria
I opened my chapped lips in to a harsh ‘o’ shape and shoved the metal pipe in-between. And with a glance over at Sadia’s Egyptian eyes, I sucked with all my might onto the pipe. The hazy mist swirled down my throat, went round and round my insides and whisked around my already rotted lungs.
Then. Swallow.
I released with a calm smile on my lips. Ah, yes. This was an ultimate high --- Everything got a bit wispy from there. A light gray air seemed to be blanketed all around Sadia, blurring the creases on her forehead. “Sadia,” my voice sounded deeper then usual and it took me a second to get used to. I took another long inward breath of the toxic substance as she busily flipped through her book.
The feathery sounds of flipping pages crashed into one another and created a gorgeous effect in my ears. “Sadia,” I said once more, settling my feet onto the desk while leaning back into the plush of the satin chair. “Sadia,” I closed my eyes and laughed, “isn’t this beautiful.” I raise my hand and waved it around me. “This, this, this,” I continued my cackling, “is…magnificent.”
She frantically looked up from her book, eyes wide. “’I can’t take your crap right now.” She carelessly flipped a couple more pages, her eyes still locked on the sole of my foot. “Really, I don’t understand how you can just sit there and get high at a time like this.” A faint sigh trickled into my ear and I swiveled the chair around a bit to find Sadia staring intently at the book once more.
“Tomorrow is the end of the world,” I opened my mouth in an attempt of a straighter smile, to find it impossible. A little croak left my throat - in reaction to the failed smile - and it soon formed into another laugh. “How perfect.”
“And you’re calm about it!” Sadia raised her voice a bit.
“Well,” my feet fell back to the floor, “there is no use…to look through books.” She sneered at me in disbelief and continued to ignore me. “Oh Sadia. Idiots have written many beautiful things, but ‘a way to stop the world from ending’ --- they are yet to write.”
My gaze then went from Sadia to an old book on the table. I stretched my arm forward trying to reach it and as soon as my finger touched it, I slipped and all the pages floated down to the floor.
Sadia shouted a curse into the air --- which seemed to clash with her beauty --- and went to pick the papers up. Pushing my black curls back, I nearly choked myself by sticking the metal pipe back into my mouth while laughing.
This only made me laugh more.
And with excitement rising through my body I went to swirl around in the chair, to soon find it a big mistake. The pipe that was in my hand was still connected to the larger bottle of polluted air, which came crashing down onto the floor. All I could hear -- other then shattering glass --- were more vulgar remarks from Sadia.
“That’s it,” she threw the recently picked up pages at me, “get out!”
I looked calmly into her beautiful brown eyes and saw that all the eyeliner had seeped down her cheeks. Oh. She was taking all this so seriously. “Sadia…”
“What!”
I glanced at the pages on the floor. “Heh…I thought you picked those up.”
