We slept silent as anticipation and expectance,
Interrupted only by the noise of each other erasing their respective memories,
So to not wake dormant monsters or lull away false bliss.

Unconscious all through the blazing bronze and gloss of sunset,
As far away from one another as spiritually possible,
Without reversing into closeness around the orbed mind of heaven.

You peeled off your blanket and I peeled off my skin,
But in light of the occasion it was really all one thing.
The shadow hills with window sills made music blend with sound,
And you and I, beloved girths, fell face-first to the ground.

Made it, baby, you and I did.
