Tears In Heaven

Actual Summary: It's been 3 months since her best friend, Michael Lewis passed away due to a fatal illness and 17 year old Jamie Andrews has yet to come to terms with his death. As much as she tries to move on, she cannot seem to forget his memory and her grief goes into a downward spiral with the introduction of a new classmate - Matthew Nicholson - who she sees so much of Michael in. Can her existing friends and Matthew make her see the true meaning in life before it’s too late or will there still be more Tears in Heaven?

Prologue

I guess ‘Hey Jamie!’ would sound rather odd now, wouldn’t it? Considering the fact that you can’t exactly see me right now, needless to say, even hear what I’m trying to say.

Come to think of it, I wonder what you’d say if you found out that I’ve been watching you all this time… No wait… I think I know already. You’ll probably draw yourself to full height (which in all honestly, isn’t all that much, I must say) with one hand on your hips and the other waving a finger dangerously at me going, “Michael Donovan Lewis! Get yourself out of my room at once!”

…Or something like that anyway…

It’s times like this, sitting here watching you muse over all that homework on your table (Mrs Thatcher’s really pushing you guys isn’t she?) that really makes me miss all those old times we had together – times I guess are impossible to relive already. I guess right now, I’ve got all the time in the world to reminiscence about how we did this or that back in seventh grade or how we used to joke about how Mrs Thatcher only talks to the board during lesson time (though from what I’ve been seeing so far, she still does).

But I digress…

Remember the song you used to play on the guitar whenever Maddie and I came over last time? I think it was by Eric Clapton or something… ‘Tears in Heaven’? Looking at where we are now, I guess that would sound rather ironic.

Would you know my name, if I saw you in Heaven…? Would you feel the same, if I saw you in Heaven…?

Of course it’s not possible for you to see me again, other than up here of course but even so, I’d rather you not know my name – not know me at all for that matter – if that means you’re going to continue on like this.

Now… How do I put this… It’s a little hard to explain, but you see, Jamie… We don’t really have all that much time left… Or rather…

You don’t have all that much time left…

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A/N: Just a slight teaser while I run off and get the other chapters done (one for this and the other for The Amistad). I’ll be putting the other one on semi-hiatus while I work on this one. Just in case you didn’t quite get it, the person whose POV is written here is err… dead… And don’t count on me bringing him back either.

Let’s just say it’s another one of my quirky prologues which leaves more questions than answers to anything.

Yup. So please tell me what you think! Thanks!
