my Flame, my Lost Cause by Kitten Lemonade

Name a price, my soul will go lower

Than this purgatory, with burning flames

Your screams reach my ears, and I see

You are burning, just out of my reach.

I shout to you, “Take my hand, only my love can save you”

Because that’s what you used to say.

My memories rise and fall like this fire

And burn me just as well

This pain can’t take you away, I know

You didn’t mean to burn me, dearest love

So why do it again?

Accidents claim my innocence, until

There is nothing left, and I hold my breath

Until you come back again

“We’re like a bullet and a barrel, baby

Without you, I’m an empty stock.”

The echoes of your shotgun sting my soul

Let me die here, and you will lose me forever.

I see

You are burning, just out of my reach

You’ve been beaten down into the treads of life

Without me.

I must purge myself of this love,

No matter how deep the scars are embedded

I will purge myself of your disease

I won’t let you pull me down with you

I promise I won’t, you can’t make me

Become the shrapnel of your attack.

And I must let you go

I have to let you burn

You will learn

The pain of defeat.

“We’re like a bullet and a barrel, baby

Without you, I’m an empty stock.”

The echoes of your shotgun sting my soul

Let me die here, and you will lose me forever.

I can’t let you die

I can’t let you suffer,

I have to protect you

From the bitterness of the world

After all there are worse fates than torture

Aren’t there?
