Thoughts are running thru this head
And I know I’ll never get rid of them
Ones of a love never returned
Ones of smiling green-eyed boys, both smitten
A girl shying away from the world
Scared of getting hurt- or of loving
She turns away not knowing what to do
These thoughts, memories, flashes
Plague my troubled mind
The tears of frustration fall-
For the life I could’ve had
The life I should’ve had
The life I never had.
Closing my eyes, I see two people kiss
A brown haired girl, a green-eyed boy
A pair of friends hugging
A brown-eyed girl, another green-eyed boy
But neither had a chance with her
For she thought, she had no chance with them
Now shaking her head
She realizes the mistake-
I realize the mistake, made so long ago
One that repeated twice and haunts me now
I cry for the love I never saw
The friendship I let go
Because now I’m all alone
I have no one to hold, to kiss, to call mine
Poor shy girl now opening her eyes
She searches for the love she let go
The comfort of a friendship far gone
Curling up in a ball on her bed
She clings to memories
Long forgotten by others
I lay in a paralyzed state
Staring at photos now fading
Crying because it hurts so much
