"The Heart That Beats"

It hurts so badly
Realization. Retaliation.
My comfortable restitution
The inhale. The exhale.
The message is clear through my burning heart:
I have failed. I have lost. I am spent.
I am naked. I am broken. I am taken. I am weak.
I have felt. I have hurt. I have drunk. I have spit. I have cursed.
I have cheated. I have burned. I have equipped. I have taught. I have led.
Falsely
Realization. Retaliation.
I am an image. I am followed. I am watched. I am seen. I am discussed.
I am a master of faces, built by layers of fakeness.
A simple design with a dangerous mind
I am a smile
I am a knife
I am a scar in someone’s life
The pain has dug in and made its home in my mind.
Realization. Retaliation.
It seems to be the only way to gain my attention.
Pain
Hurt
Suffering
The ache
My soul yearns, begging for medication.
The inhale. The exhale.
Realization. Retaliation.
Tears form
Drip
Drop
My comfortable restitution
Released
Unworthy
Lost
Spent
Forgiven
My weary eyes no longer searching. Secure in vision. In direction. In fate.
The inhale. The exhale.
Clean. Pure. Bright.
Forgiven.
