Healing of a Broken Heart

--

A pepper spray smile;

Calculating eyes.

No longer trusts the world

Because of his lies.

--

She wasn’t fallin’ in love,

She was fallin’ apart.

It killed a piece of her soul,

When he abused her heart.

--

Didn’t want to face the world;

She just hid away.

Didn’t give men a chance;

Tired of the games they play.

--

She’s stopped counting the tears,

But still she knows they’re never-ending.

They say that she’s healing,

But she’s really just pretending.

--

Sick of the Kleenex trails;

Determined to keep her eyes dry.

Tired of mascara streaks

And the pain that they imply.

--

Tired of the same four walls:

Can’t take the self-pity anymore.

Has to get rid of his image…

Time to change the score.

--

She strides down the street,

Her heels clicking with confidence.

Heads turn as she passes…

Let the healing process commence.

--
