Comments: I've been in such a poem writing mood lately...This is inspired by the TRAX, and the lovely Yuki Kajura.
Piano Wire Ballet
May I have this dance?
Upon ivory keys, and inky tones
While these piano wires slither
Like Heaven at night
Like Hell in the morning
--
(Gentle metallic breath)
--
You take my hand
We’re following the decrescendo
Of this misguided story
Teach me to play what you want to hear
With the piano wires attached to scarlet fingers
One outstretched leg of time
Always follows another.
--
(Hallway filled with florescent sunlight)
--
One-and-two-and-three-and
Metronome time, keeping up with the memories
This nefarious waltz that we’re traveling on
I can never find my footing
Single pirouette slurs into another
Your legato of piano wires
Tugs in tighter, and this dance of ours
Starting to grow.
--
(I count the steps on this white bricked road)
--
Strings so inaudible
That when I peer through looking glass
I can hardly believe they are there
Strings so tangible that every a tempo
Of your own flows through with the point of a toe
Echoes through with the bend of a hip.
--
(I’m held by your pocket watch date)
--
We’re galloping towards this allegro, breath fading
Leaping, striving, towards a crescendo
All roaring limbs and graceful notes
Stumbling into the right key at the wrong time
In order to complete this perceived symphony
Piano wires shiver, shrieking the discordant truth
--
(Am I presented to the wizard of this Oz, or the Queen of Hearts?)
--
Forte of movements, and you dip me
Scrape me gently, begrudgingly along the shaving floor
Guiding piano wires pang louder,
Strangle me—play me lovingly
I’m calling down from this ritardando
Screeching this finales broken chord
Bleeding notes
Frayed and broken piano wire
--
(And will it be, “come with me”, or “off with her head”?)
--
Shall we dance?
Upon ivory keys, and inky tones
While these piano wires slither
Like Hell in the morning
Like Heaven at night.
--
(Tell me please, if I still wander in the Land of Dreams.)
