Summary: Drae has just been dumped, his friends decide to take him on a shopping spree where he meets a rather closed and quiet Chinese “female” shopper whose in an abusive relationship. He decides to rescue and offers border at his house. What follows is a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and possibly newfound love…

Chapter Three: Are you Sure?

Drae rolled over in his waterbed and wrapped an arm around a soft, smooth and cold…pillow. He sighed and blinked weary eyes before rolling back, then thought better and grabbed the pillow wrapping two tight muscled arms around it snuggling close to what had once been “Chloe’s Pillow”.

His apartment was filled with several colors. Bright splashes of yellows, lime, reds, blues and purples. A large poster of Celine Dion in a large glossy frame decorated the top of the fireplace mantel.

Fun filled furniture of different shapes, some round, some squared and others the shape of a stiletto heel.

Ruth had often left hints of Drae’s questionable manhood. Drae didn’t find himself “gay” at all…sure he was gifted with the wills too match and look good. To know how to decorate and he might have been more flamboyant than Riley himself, but he wasn’t gay. Drae just thought himself a little, well…metrosexual.

He hugged the pillow closer to his chest and slowly wrapped a leg over it too. Feeling lonely and slightly hung over he began to move. Back and forth, his pelvis slowly driving into the pillows softness. When the bell rang.

“Hey Drae-baby come on and open the door! Were freezing our butts!” came Riley’s voice from the door.

Drae quickly pushed the pillow away and glowered at his semi-hard python and grabbed a hold of boxers with hearts on them and slipped them on the elastic slapping soundly against his skin. He padded past the living room and opened the door.

Riley’s and Ruth’s smiling, shivering faces appeared from behind. They were both dressed in oversized sweaters, beanies on top of their heads, and scarves wrapped around their necks.

“Don’t tell me you forgot!” cried Ruth admonished, at Drae’s blank look she nearly cried “Go on! It’s Black Friday! The stores will be open any minute now! Didn’t you remember?!”

Suddenly gears shifted, wheels turned and Drae nearly slipped as he ran to the bathroom and quickly stepped into the shower stall, even forgetting to lather his skin with sweet lavender smelling shower gel. He trampled across the color coded bags of laundry he had set up the night before and began to dress himself in record time. Shoving his nearly dry, and uncombed hair inside a beanie and pulling a scarf around his neck.

“I didn’t forget,” he said at Ruth’s and Riley’s knowing looks.

“Sure” teased Riley before adding “And I’m sure you didn’t forget your wallet either.”

“Damn it to hell!” growled Drae and picked up his wallet from the kitchen “Not a word!” he warned them both and followed them to Riley’s tiny little sports car.

On their drive there, Riley squealed putting on the volume “I love this song,” and began to sing Black Eyed Peas, My Humps.

“God!” groaned Ruth and shoved a fist in her mouth “What the hell is it with these degrading songs? My lovely lady humps? What the hell is that anyway?!”

“Honestly Ruth, I love you and all, but sometimes I think you’re just like my old boyfriend, always naggy and never wanting to have fun. Like old cows,” muttered Riley and continued to sing “My humps, my humps, my lovely lady humps.”

“Oh yeah Riley? Which boyfriend would that be? The one before? Or the thousands after?”

“Like hell, do I have to show you what a man even looks like Ruth? You never seem to have one.”

“Hey!” Drae intercepted and pointed at the coming stoplight “Now let’s forget this. If Riley likes My Humps then he can sing it. If Ruth thinks it’s degrading let her think it, okay?” He watched his two best friends nod in agreement, both with pouty mouths “Its like taking care of two stupid little kids.”

“Like you should be talking Drae, you’re the one having trouble trying to find your sexuality,” commented Ruth.

“Like hell! I keep telling you Ruth I’m not gay! I’m one hundred percent straight!”

“Jeez Drae didn’t know being gay was just so crooked!”

“I didn’t mean it that way Riley, its just I am heterosexual.”

“When are you going to stop beating around the bush Drae? You are obviously gay. It’s not just your style or the whole Celine thing, its everything! You don’t even need words to say it, you just scream it out!”

“Can we please change the subject I’ve just broken up with the woman I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with and you’re all trying to go against me, its not the right time.”

“Fine,” agreed Riley and grinned, “We can talk about what were going to buy when we get to the mall.”

“Black Friday here we come,” cheered Drae and thoughtfully asked, “Do you think I should get the peach button down shirt or the conservative navy blue sweater?”

“Personally I think both.”

“Yeah you’re probably right I just think the sweater is just a bit frilly looking, makes me look kind of big in the middle.”

“Not at all, I think you look gorgeous in both, if anything it gives you a more softer look.”

“Really? You’re not just saying that?”

“Of course not!”

“Drae… honey,” interrupted Ruth “Don’t tell me you still think-”

“I’m not gay Ruth!”

“I wasn’t going to say that!” protested Ruth “But maybe you-”

“Not another word Ruth!”

“You’re not even letting me-”

“Were hear!” sang Riley.

“Damnit let me speak!”

“Sorry Darlings times up!” Both Riley and Drae jumped out of the car and made a slow jog up the mall’s steps where a crowd was forming in front.

“Sluts,” muttered Ruth and followed in suit.

---

Cheng sat beside Andy waiting for Andy’s mother to finish dressing. Andy had a black trucker’s hat on, he wore a simple gray shirt, another white shirt under, his jeans faded and held by a thick leather brown belt. Cheng eyed the belt warily having felt the rough coarse thing against his bottom more then once. He gave a little sigh and leaned forward ignoring the big-breasted woman on the television running around in a simple cherry red bathing suit. Cheng had heard of the show, but had never really paid interest to it, not like Andy who sat on the couch beer between his legs, arm slung over across the couch where Cheng sat, an intense look in his eyes.

Cheng tapped his feet a little on the floor his soft shoes making light thumping sounds on the carpeted floor. He stopped at the look of annoyance on Andy’s face and was promptly startled when Andy reached over and lifted one loose silk strand of hair and tucked it behind his ear before returning to his show.

It was the little things that often made Cheng’s heart pound loudly and fast, as though he were almost going to choke. Andy could be sincere, loving, on those few rare occasions, it scared Cheng, for he knew those moments were just times like these, insignificant.

“What is taking her so long?” muttered Andy angrily and called out “Ma! You about done there?”

No one answered, Andy muttered a curse under his breath and grabbed hold of Cheng’s forearm hauling him to his feet “If you plan on taking this long me and Cheng will leave without you!”

When his threat was answered with another long silence Andy rolled his eyes and led them to the door only to be stopped when a small voice reached their ears.

“I’m sorry dear I was just looking for my wedding ring,” Andy’s mother a plump woman with gray hair smiled at them. She was shorter than Cheng but larger. Her eyes were covered in crows’ feet, wrinkles that showed a life filled with laughs and smiles. She smiled at Cheng and took hold of her coat as Andy opened the door and ushered them out into the chilly morning.

“I hope I haven’t made us late, I was hoping to get something for your sister at the mall,” and as an after thought looked at Cheng “And you darling Andy needs to buy a few warmer clothes, and maybe we can feed you something when we get there, you’re too thin these days Cheng.”

“I like him thin,” growled Andy moodily as he led the way, Cheng just gave a sigh and wrapped one arm across goose bumping skin wishing Andy listened to his mother more often than times when he didn’t.
