The figure pulled the wide rim of a hat further down around its eyes, before lowering its face and beginning its walk down to the nearly deserted street. Hands securely in the pockets of an ankle length coat, swept behind with the motion of body and slight snowy breeze, the lone being seemed aimless yet determined. Avoiding contact at all cost, it kept to the dimness at street center.
To the splitting of the ways just beyond the edge of town the wanderer continued, and only there did motion cease. There, the head fell back, revealing to the sky a face full of pain. Ebony hair fell back from tearstained cheaks, Amber eyes turned up and reached the skies, all the while leaking more tears to the night.
A wind knocked up a flurry of powdery snow, and the hat was lost to its direction, fading into the blackness of distant night.
A whispered prayer was sent up to the jewels, a voicless plea for release and forgivness. A tortured cry for deliverance, or return. A silent admission of failure.
With no further sound, no answer from the stars, no comfort for atortured heart, the spirit once more hung its head and faded awaysilently into the chasm of darkness.
