A city so vacant
A city so quiet
A city with no people
A city in which I walk alone

Doors left open
Lights left on
All these things
To ponder on

Not a voice is heard
No sound anywhere
Just the simple pounding
Of my feet

Where are the people?
Where have they gone?
Not even stray cats wonder the streets
Or bugs buzz in the air

Radio stations left with static
Hollow TV sets left turned on
Is all that seems
To haunt this city

It seems so eerie
Like something you read in a book
Or see in a movie
It’s empty

No people walk in this city
No people are seen
Not even diminished ghosts
Or whispers on the wind

This little city
I walk around in circles
And in circles I walk
Deep inside my head.
