This probably has to do with my obession with Wicked, and theanything "Oz."
This is one of my favorites.
This first half is Dorothy's point of veiw
The second half is Elphaba's.
The third part is Glinda's.
Follow the Yellow Brick Road
You just take that one road, the whole time.
She had said to me, that blonde witch of the North.
Just follow this one road the whole time, how hard can it be?
It’s yellow and made of brick; it should take me to that city
of Emeralds quite quick.
But I’m not as sure as I look around, I think I might
have lost some common ground along the way, heading
To this spectacular city of green.
Someone stands aside the road, a pole stuck up his back.
“Oh which way do I go?” I ask, and the man of straw points.
“This way, or that way, whichever way you choose”
He said to me. Well I don’t know what I’m to do, which Yellow
Brick road do I follow, maybe this man of straw should come too.
Just take this one road the whole time and I’ll end up in the City
of Emeralds, which will take me home to Kansas.
Just follow the road until you see that green horizon.
But now all I see is a tin woodsman who seems to be staring at me.
“Do you need some help?” I ask as politely as I can, for I am frightened, and
I try to hold my place though I wish I could have ran.
He nods up and down as best he can; he’s a man of Tin, that poor old thing.
I oil him the best I can, he thanks and begins to sing.
A song of happily and merrily hoping to have a heart, oh well I don’t care
but I invite him along as well. Maybe he’ll be of use so I can get back home.
Someone jumps out and scares my little dog Toto. But it wasn’t a someone,
no it was a something. A lion to be exact a big furry coward. That annoying
whining little cat, all he wants is courage, well maybe he could be of some help.
But as soon as we start walking, Toto bites his tail and lets out a loud yelp.
Sooner than not I see the horizon and that city of green, oh how wonderful it looks,
I say to myself. I hope I can get back home.
Damn little girl and those ruby red shoes.
They’re mine! Not hers and I want them back!
The Wicked Witch yells at home in her tower. She looks once again
through her round looking glass and
sees that little farm girl making her way towards Kumbrica’s Pass.
Oh how I’ll kill her, I want those shoes! She shouts out loud.
I’ll get them no matter what. She thought to herself as she vowed,
that she’d get them back, they were rightfully hers, Nessa had promised.
Over her dead body that she herself would get those shoes,
and now she was dead, it wasn’t Glinda’s choice to choose who got those shoes.
She’d gone mad with grief the witch had,
which left her staring out the window, lonely and sad.
But than she saw something that raised her hopes,If she even had them.
“He’s coming back to me!” She screamed with delight.
Now something, maybe something would finally go right.
She stared out the window in disbelief as that wretched little
farm girl came with the band of travelers.
That little thief! The Wicked Witch thought.
Stealing my shoes, my lover and everything I’ve got!
Walking down the stone steps with zeal,
She hoped beyond hope that Fiyero would be real.
But what she saw next, tore her heart into pieces,
She couldn’t take anymore loss, as she stared at the man
of straw, he tore out his stomach protecting that girl.
That couldn’t be him, it wasn’t him. She started to cry,
But softly so the tears would not burn her skin.
She realized now, that the girl might win.
She had nothing left, she might as well die,
It would be better that why. She thought as she continued to cry.
But no those shoes, they belonged to her.
Once the girl was safely locked away, she gave
her concoction of fumes one last stir.
“It isn’t when to kill her, its how.”
She had told the girl as she left with a menacing bow.
Those shoes were hers, rightfully so.
She’d get them back. Of course she would!
For she’d promised herself she’d do something good.
But alas, the Wicked Witch did not succeed.
She killed the witch, what a wicked deed.
Dorothy had won, and Elphaba had not.
But Dorothy felt smaller and weaker as she watched the
Witch melt. Bile rose in her throat, she felt sick and distraught.
“Oh what have I done, I just came to say I’m sorry!” Dorothy wailed.
“To apologize for hurting her sister.”
Though from what I’ve heard, she didn’t really miss her.
“Oh what have I done!?” Dorothy shouted in shock,
As she ran out the door and down the stairs, she wanted
Nothing more at all to do with that wicked old Witch,
The one who’d taken Toto away from her, she was always up to mischief.
“I’m sorry.” She wailed once more as she ran out the door,
back towards the city of green and go home. She hoped beyond hope
that they wouldn’t be seen, as they made their way out of that old castle.
Those flying monkeys must be watching. Dorothy thought.
But they did nothing, not even move.
“What have you got to prove?” Asked the scarecrow.
“That you killed that wicked old witch.”
“Nothing.” Dorothy answered and she didn’t care,
she just wanted to leave Oz, go someplace away, from there.
“We’ll miss you Dorothy!” The three of them called. Dorothy
Just smiled and tapped her heels together and said the words that sent her home.
“Oh Elphie.” Glinda sighed as she watched that girl go.
“She killed you, she must have. Oh no, no no!” Glinda started to cry, and left
the room by bubble, she didn’t want people to see her crying.
She hoped beyond hope that girl had been lying.
“You just take that one road, the whole time.”
Glinda had said; oh look what a mess she’d made.
Her friend was dead; she didn’t know what to do.
But at least those shoes were safe from harm on those
Girl’s feet away from this place where they could’ve cause true
Hurt to the people of Oz. But they did, didn’t they?
As Glinda thought of her old friend, she started to cry, once more again.
“Oh Elphie I miss you.” Glinda said through her tears.
You just take that one road, the whole time. She had said, oh she hated those
Shoes and the mess they had caused. And that damn yellow road, made
Of brick, and mortar. Glinda paused to look out the window at that damn yellow road.
That little yellow road of brick. That twined all the way to the city of Green.
Hope you liked it! Reviews would be kindly thanked!
